I think its the combination of finals week, my portfolio book, a trip to Vermont, my frenzied week of applications, cleaning out my room for Brittney Lohmiller to take my place in Erie this summer, and getting ready for my internship this summer that is causing me to want to do nothing more than to photograph and photograph and photograph (and listen to Philip Glass).
I know I'll have my share of it this summer, starting next week, but for now, I'll edit, edit, edit, and finish, hopefully in time for some light to be still sticking to things.

After living a year without a guide dog, Rowmelle Gentry meets her new dog, Yonder, a black lab.
I've been working on this story for only a month or so, and hopefully will get to photograph Rowmelle and Yonder more once I move back to Rochester, whenever that is.
I just got back from a weekend in Vermont which was filled with swimming, grilling, long midnight bike rides, ice cream, and the Susan Meiselas show at Dartmouth. I'll be posting a review of the show shortly.

My friends Greg Gentert and Jeff Porter told me to sit on something for a month or so if I'm not sure if I like it. I followed their advice with their piece. After a month of looking at it a few times a week, I still like it.
In other news, I finished my portfolio for Photo for News Media this week, and finished my third year as a photojournalism student at the Rochester Institute of Technology
Now, I'm off to Vermont from Friday to Monday, then home for a week, then I'll be driving down to Harrisburg to start my time as a photography intern at the Patriot News.
In addition, I updated my website! (for you fast blog checkers, it'll be back up by 12:30 EST today).

A Moment in Time- New York Times Lens Blog
Saturday, May 1, 2010
I photographed for seven hours today at and around the RIT Innovation Festival.
I had way too much fun.
I tried to use the same workflow that I am expecting to use at the Patriot News (i.e. all my own gear, photomechanic, and fast transfers and uploads)
I found that doing this helped me focus more and try and do a really good job with the little that I had.
I'm excited for this summer.
