Magnum Expression Photography Contest

Magnum just released the 20 finalists for it's 1st expression photography contest. The entries are worth a good look. I wasn't surprised that Alajandro Chaskielberg was among the finalists- his series has definitely caught the attention of many, winning the burn magazine emerging photographer grant this year, and also appearing in the PDN 30 this spring, among others. However, I see a lot of good fresh work here and I don't have any favorites yet- I have to do a bit of a better look first.

Alessandra Sanguinetti

I've just recently discovered her. I don't know what else to say other than her work is inspiring for sure.

Rebecca Webb

From her series: The Glass Between Us
I honestly like Rebecca's work better than her husband's- I think there is more meaning to be found in these photographs.

I don't like photography

I don't like photography

I found this from the Conscientious photo blog, and the description on Conscientious was far more interesting than the actual article itself- which is almost as dull, boring, and morbid (not to mention extremely dense and filled with name dropping and few examples), however, I do like this quote:
why is "fine art photography is so frequently dull and distasteful, so paralyzed by moribund subjects and forms?"
because I do agree on that in many cases. Photography has not nearly exercised it's full potential as an art form, but can't the author of this article say this in a better and more innovative way than was done? I don't exactly know, any thoughts?
